Nandita Das to receive French honour




National award-winning actress and independent film maker Nandita Das, who was appointed as the Chairperson of the Children's Film Society of India in 2009, will be bestowed with the French honour 'Knight of the Order of Arts' on 15 April for her contribution to the development of Indo-French cooperation in the field of cinema.
French ambassador Jerome Bonnafont will confer the distinction on Das. The honour is conferred on persons who have distinguished themselves by their creativity in the field of art, culture and literature or for their contribution to the influence of arts in France and throughout the world.
Knight of the Order of Arts has been previously conferred on Shahrukh Khan, photographer Raghu Rai, late theatre actor Habib Tanveer and Bengali author Upamanyu Chatterjee.
